Simply fill out the form on the contact page to connect with me to book your free 20 min online consultation. We will then coordinate via email to book that together.
If we decide that it feels like a good therapeutic fit, we can move forward in arranging the time for our first session, which I will book for you. At the same time, I will create a profile for you in my client portal, teletherapy.io. You will receive an email from them inviting you to create a password and enter the portal.
Once in, you will need to fill out the four forms under the “Forms” tab, as well as enter a credit card under the “Billing” tab, for an automatic payment option. I do also accept etransfers.
Get excited about connecting together for your first session, using the virtual office through teletherapy.io. The link can be found by accessing the portal, or via the confirmation email you’ll receive two days before your appointment.

Great question! Because everyone comes to therapy at a different place, and have different needs and goals, the process is unique for each person. Typically, I’ll invite us to meet more frequently at first, either weekly or bi-weekly, and assess along the way how things are feeling for you and if adjustments are needed. I’ll continue to check in periodically throughout the course of therapy to make sure we are still on track with your original goals, which ones have been met, and if any additional ones feel like they’ve surfaced.

Sessions are 50 mins, however I do offer 90 min extended sessions as well. All joint sessions are automatically booked for 90 mins unless otherwise discussed.

Although I don’t do direct billing, my clients are typically able to submit their receipts for sessions (found in the client portal) to their benefits provider for reimbursement. Please check with your provider to make sure they cover Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs).

If you need to change an appointment, you are able to cancel and rebook your own sessions in the client portal 24 hrs or more before your confirmed time. Cancellations or no-shows within 24 hrs are billed at $75 for individual sessions and $108 for extended sessions.

Over the years of practice I have become a bit eclectic in my approach. I pull my conceptualization and interventions from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Satir Experiential Therapy.
Additionally, I use a trauma informed lens when working with all clients, meaning that I integrate my understanding of neuroscience and body work into my therapeutic approach.

There is a specific reason that I’m using the language of “faith integrated” rather than “Christian” counselling, which is simply to be more inclusive and hopefully less triggering to those who have particular associations with the label of “Christian”, or who are in the process of understanding what that terminology means for them.
Faith integrated means that I am anchoring my work in the truths found in the Gospel message and integrating them with the truths found in psychology, along with the principles of healing that I’ve learned as a clinical counsellor.

I do! In fact, this is a particular area of passion for me. I understand that although Christian faith can be beautiful and transformational, Christian culture i.e. the human elements that get woven into our experiences of faith, can sometimes be messy, toxic, confusing, or wounding, and are in need of being seen and held with compassion.
As a therapist, my view is that the work of therapy is always your work. I am not coming with an agenda, an expert stance, or a set outcome in mind. Your healing, growth, and spirituality are YOURS and any choices about your life belong to you.

Yes! I have worked with people from all different backgrounds and faith beliefs, or those without any religious affiliation, for 8 years now. It is a point of ethics that I will continue to do so, as long as my clients understand that I hold a faith background which informs my understanding of their intrinsic worth and value, and helps guide my conceptualization about human wellness and thriving. I care for all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or socioeconomic status.

Great question! The first piece to address here is that although some Christian/Biblical counsellors may be clinical counsellors, there are some who are not licensed counsellors and/or do not hold a Master’s degree in counselling. In contrast, I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy degree, and am licensed with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.
Second, the focus of my counselling is to work with clients towards their personal goals for growth and healing, rather than necessarily focusing specifically on discipleship, spiritual direction, or accountability. These pieces could come into play throughout the counselling relationship, however I do not hold any agenda for my clients, nor do I focus on particular Scriptures, doctrines, or Christian practices that I prescribe as part of their healing.

Yes, absolutely! The majority of Christian clients that I’ve worked with are, in fact, in this position. Many clients find that having a counsellor who shares their faith and has an understanding of Christian culture to be helpful, however often these elements remain more covert than directly addressed. My clients and I decide together how much of their faith they’d like to fold into therapy.
My philosophy of counselling is informed by my belief that all people are God’s children and are therefore deserving of love, care, and respect. I believe that no matter what we are working on in therapy, we are aiming to move you closer to who you were always created to be!
